The Purpose of the Safety Locking System
The hydraulic system raises the lift, but the safety locking system is designed to support the load while the equipment is elevated. Become familiar with the operation of the safety locks before using the lift.
Before Raising the Lift
- Verify the safety lock components move freely.
- Listen for normal lock engagement as the lift rises.
- Do not operate the lift if the safety lock appears damaged or does not function correctly.
Working on the Lift
Always operate the lift in accordance with the installation and operation manual. Confirm that the lift is properly supported by the safety locking system before beginning service work.
Experienced operators make it a habit to verify the safety lock every time they raise the lift. It only takes a moment, but it builds confidence that the lift is properly supported before work begins.
Routine Inspection
- Keep the locking mechanism clean.
- Inspect for worn, bent, or damaged parts.
- Report and correct any safety lock problem before returning the lift to service.
