Hydraulic Oil

Your hydraulic system depends on clean, correctly specified hydraulic oil. Using the recommended oil and maintaining the proper oil level will help provide smooth operation and long service life.

Recommended Hydraulic Oil

• SAE-10 AW-32 Hydraulic Oil
• Do NOT use Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF).

Checking the Oil Level

• Always lower the lift completely before checking or adding oil.
• Fill only to the minimum fill line on the dipstick.
• Initial fill is approximately 1.5 gallons (6 quarts).

The illustration above identifies the major components used during normal operation and routine maintenance. While the appearance of power units may vary slightly between production versions, the basic components and operating procedures remain the same.

Common Problems

• Low oil level can cause poor lifting performance.
• Overfilling may force oil out of the reservoir breather.
• Jerky operation may indicate air in the hydraulic system. Cycling the lift fully up and down several times can help purge trapped air.

Good Maintenance Practices

Keep the reservoir clean, prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system, and inspect the lift periodically for signs of hydraulic leaks. If hydraulic performance changes noticeably, investigate the cause before continued operation.
